Stage: The Avalanche Stage hosted by Kerrang! Radio Day: Sunday Set Time: TBA
After a year spent making a name for themselves as a must-see live act on Australia’s alternative club circuit, Sydney screaming rap rock electro pop mutants RedHook officially spawned in 2018 with the arrival of their debut singles ‘Minute On Fire’ and ‘Turn Up The Stereotype’, which rapidly exploded on YouTube with over 2 million streams and garnered rave reviews across Australia’s top national & community radio stations and music sites, even earning a coveted 5 star triple j Unearthed review from ‘Good Nights’ presenter Bridget Hustwaite.
Featuring the core songwriting duo of Emmy Mack and Craig Wilkinson, two strangers from opposite ends of regional NSW whose paths collided after moving to Sydney in 2017 and bonding over the role that music has played in both of their lives, RedHook create unique and challenging alt-pop music that fuses multiple genres including rock, rap, metalcore and electronica, with lyrics that aim to inspire fans to keep fighting against the forces of darkness – both in the real world and inside their own heads.
On the live circuit, RedHook cut their teeth at iconic local venues and alternative scene club nights in both Sydney and beyond including Hot Damn!, AM//PM and Bang! before closing out 2018 with a slot opening up the main stage at the inaugural Good Things festival in Sydney.
2019 will see RedHook release more music and tour intensively, completing two national tours in the space of two months, supporting both The Faim and Hands Like Houses, before heading overseas to close out this year’s instalment of Download UK alongside rock giants Tool, Slipknot and Die Antwoord.
