Albums To Look Out For In 2022

It’s the start of a new year, and there’s sure to be some killer albums coming in 2022.

Here’s our top picks to look for, including Korn, Megadeth and Venom Prison.

Korn – ‘Requiem’

Fans of Korn have been awaiting ‘Requiem’ since April last year, when they revealed in a Kerrang! interview that the album was fully written. Since then, they’ve released all kinds of cryptic clues (remember the hand grabbing the face on Instagram? WHAT was that about?! Perhaps we’ll find out). Check out lead single ‘Start The Healing’ below for a taste of what’s to come.

Release date: February 4th

Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators – ‘4’

Aptly titled ‘4’, the fourth album from Slash feat. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators is due next month. Lead single ‘The River Is Rising’ dropped back in October, and Myles says he was recovering from COVID-19 at the time of recording it, and that “you can hear it in my voice” but “we just let those imperfections lay”. Well, it sounds pretty great to us regardless.

Release date: February 11th

Megadeth –  ‘The Sick, The Dying and the Dead’

Megadeth fans have been eagerly awaiting the follow up to 2016’s ‘Dystopia’, and while there’s no set release date yet, we don’t reckon there’ll be too much longer to wait. Last year, Dave Mustaine revealed that ‘The Sick, The Dying and The Dead’ was tentatively due in spring 2022, and that we can expect songs about plagues and epidemics from throughout history. Topical.

Venom Prison – ‘Erebos’

Way back in 2020, Venom Prison announced they’d signed with Century Media Records and had begun work on their fourth album, ‘Erebos’. That album is now just weeks away from release, and if the rest of the record is as epic as ‘Pain Of Oizys’, we’re in for a real treat. Prepare for a serious bangover on February 5th.

Release date: February 4th

Shinedown – ‘Planet Zero’

Brent Smith announced last summer that we could expect the new Shinedown record this year. ‘Planet Zero’ is due in April, and Brent reckons it could be ‘controversial’: he says it’ll cover subjects the band haven’t touched upon before. For a taster, the eponymous lead single is out now.

Release date: April 22nd

All these acts and more will play Download Festival 2022 alongside headliners KISSIron Maiden, and Biffy Clyro! It takes place on 10th-12th June in Donington Park. Tickets are on sale now.
