Iron Maiden legend Bruce Dickinson will be joining the Heavy Metal Truants on their annual ride this year!
It’ll be the Truants’ ninth annual fundraising adventure, raising money for disadvantaged children. What’s more, YOU can join in too.
Traditionally, the Truants’ ride starts in London and proceeds for 175 miles over two and a half days. Their final destination? The hallowed heavy metal grounds of Donington and Download Festival, of course. It typically comprises around 40 riders cycling to the festival. Last year the Truants went international – and virtual – with over 400 riders from 35 countries.
This year, none other than Bruce Dickinson will be joining the truants on their quest to make this their biggest year yet – and YOU can be part of it too!
Bruce says: “The cat’s out of the bag – I’m joining the Heavy Metal Truants to help raise money for these heroic children’s charities. With touring out the window once again, there’s no good reason why I couldn’t sign on at last and no good reason why you can’t either! I’m calling on all fans, bands and people who work behind the scenes to join me on the virtual road to Download. Every single penny counts for these charities who’ve been hit hard by the pandemic so no matter how much, or how little, you raise, by joining us you will make a difference in a child’s life. Sign up today!””
The challenge begins on May 24th and concludes on June 4th, which would have been the first day of this year’s Download Festival. And you don’t have to be a cyclist: walkers, rowers, runners, and more are all welcome. Essentially, if you can measure it, you can join Bruce and his fellow HMT.
