Love Sucks! Listen to the Download Anti-Valentine’s Playlist

If the thought of Valentine’s Day makes you want to puke, fear not, we’ve got you covered. We’ve curated a playlist of tracks from the Download 2019 line-up that are the audio equivalent of the middle finger to Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re heartbroken, heartsick, or just don’t really give a crap about February 14th – turn it up loud, and check out some of the highlights below.

def leppard – ‘love bites’

When Joe Elliott first sang “If you’ve got love in your sights, watch out, love bites”, we felt that. Originally a country song, Def Leppard added hard rock elements to turn it into the rock power ballad we all know and love today. It also landed them their first US number one.

slipknot – dead memories

When Slipknot‘s Corey Taylor wrote ‘Dead Memories’, the third single from their album ‘All Hope Is Gone’, he was going through some pretty tough times of his own. “I had gone through a pretty brutal divorce at that point,” he explained in an interview with Kerrang!. “This (song) was me letting go of a lot of regret and cynical feelings”.

Halestorm – love/hate heartbreak

We’re rewinding all the way back to 2009 for one of Halestorm‘s first singles. It’s the perfect track to jam out to when you’re half way between breaking up and moving on. Channel Lzzy Hale’s badass-ery and get practicing your air guitar to those killer shreds.

trivium – dying in your arms

Taken from Trivium‘s award winning second album ‘Ascendancy’, this track is about finally breaking out of a toxic relationship. If you can relate, sing along LOUD. What’s more, the live footage in the video makes us even more excited to see them tearing up the Main Stage in June.

delain – suckerpunch

If symphonic metal is what you need to get you through love troubles, look no further than Delain. The Dutch trio pack one hell of a (sucker)punch on this track, and it’s sure to have you headbanging your blues away. All together now: “get out of my dreeeeaaaams”…

What’s the best way to get over a heartbreak? Booking a ticket for Download 2019, of course!

Taking place in Donington Park on 14th-16th June 2019, you can catch all of the above artists and many more, including our headliners Def Leppard, Slipknot, and Tool.
