New Music Friday: The Skints, Employed To Serve, Wargasm

Another #NewMusicFriday, and another week closer to Download!

This week’s a good’un, with The Skints, Employed To Serve, and Wargasm all serving awesome new videos. Tune in below!

The Skints are trapped on an island

UK reggae punks The Skints have a lot to talk about on political anthem ‘The Island’. It’s their latest single from their 2019 album ‘Swimming Lessons’. The song and animated video – which features caricatures of some very recognisable figures – takes aim at Brexit and the government. This band doesn’t mince their words.

employed to serve have reimagined ‘harsh truth’

‘Harsh Truth’, a fan favourite from Employed To Serve‘s most recent album, ‘Eternal Forward Motion’, has been given a makeover. This time ‘Harsh Truth (Relived)’ features vocals from Stray From The Path frontman Andrew Dijorio.

Vocalist Justine Jones said of the track: “Harsh Truth (Relived) is a reminder that past demons have a habit of rearing their ugly heads again, and that doesn’t spell defeat. It means you stare back at them with more determination than ever before. This song is a reworking of the album track Harsh Truth that sees the song take a more primitive and visceral shape. “

wargasm rock up n.e.r.d’s ‘lapdance’

London upstarts Wargasm have dropped their first release of 2020: a nu-metal style cover of N.E.R.D’s ‘Lapdance’. If you were a fan of Pharrell Williams’ hip-hop rock band back in the early 2000’s, you’ll remember the iconic bassline.  This cover is riffy as hell and the video gives you a taster of the raucous riot you can expect from a Wargasm show.
