Urne

Playing

Location: The Dogtooth Stage Day: Friday Set Time: TBA

There is no single way that London trio Urne describe their sound, it all comes back to one thing: heavy. There are shades of Metallica, Mastodon, Alice In Chains in there, hopping between sludge, tech-metal, doom, hardcore and anything else with a weighty heart. The band’s shapeshifting 2021 debut ‘Serpent & Spirit’ was the product of a lifetime of inspiration and ideas collected by Joe and mercurial guitarist Angus Neyra, drawing on riffs
originally written for renowned stoner-rock collective Hang The Bastard and cutting prog- metal project Chapters. Late 2022, the duo welcomed master drummer James Cook into the fold. They recorded the sophomore record ‘A Feast On Sorrow’ in Joe Duplantier’s (Gojira) Silver Cord studio in Brooklyn, New York. Duplantier invited Urne to join them for several shows in summer 2023 in Europe, where the three piece played packed venues in Italy, Estonia, Austria, Czech Republic and more. Meanwhile, press praised the band’s new record, Metal Hammer describing it as ‘destined to be one of the metal albums of the year.’
