Where is Download?

Download happens on the sacred site that is Donington Park, next to East Midlands Airport. Donington Park lies where the three counties of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire meet – the ley lines of ROCK!

Download has excellent connections by road, rail, bus and plane.

Please note: There will be no Pedestrian access to the Festival from Melbourne Lane

Car

We have routes from North, South, East and West to get you to site. These will be used flexibly depending on traffic conditions at the time so make sure you follow the signs and not your sat nav.

There are roadworks near Donington Park and so we will be reacting to live traffic conditions and changing routes live and using contingencies so we can’t stress enough – follow the signage!

When leaving, please follow signs and use routes that avoid the busiest area which will be J23a of the M1.

Car parking

If you are driving to Download you’ll need to purchase a pass for parking.

One pass provides access to parking for one car for the duration of the event.

Standard Advance Purchase Car Park Pass: £20.00

On Day Car parking Pass: £25.00 (subject to change – this will be updated closer to the event)

Shipping Details and Terms & Conditions: If you have purchased a Car or Motorcycle parking pass in advance, you will be sent this with your event tickets no later than 7 days prior to the event. Parking passes are non-refundable. Parking passes cannot be exchanged for cash or resold.

Dropping Off and Picking Up

There is an area inside the Transport Hub for dropping off and picking up festival goers. Follow the normal Download signs and then the signs for “Pick Up and Drop Off” when you get nearer the site.

Carbon Balancing with Energy Revolution

The main contributor of carbon emissions at festivals is travel, which accounts for 70% of a festival’s carbon footprint. That is why at Download Festival we are introducing carbon offsetting to our car and motorcycle parking prices. £1 of the cost of your parking pass will be donated to the charity Energy Revolution, who invest in renewable energy projects. Watch this video to find out more.  If you don’t want to travel by car, there are other forms of lower carbon to travel to the festival such as Big Green Coach or train with direct shuttle buses to the festival.

Motorcycle

If you are bringing a motorcycle, you’ll need to purchase a pass for parking when you arrive at the festival. The bike park is located on the hard standing area in the West Car Park. One pass provides access to parking for one motorcycle for the duration of the event.

On Day Motorcycle Parking pass: £15.00

(subject to change – this will be updated closer to the event)

Road Directions

Whether you are coming to park or coming to drop off or pick up from the north, south, east or west, follow the signs from the M1 motorway or from the A38 or A42. The routes to site will be used flexibly depending on traffic conditions at the time so make sure you follow the signs and not your sat nav.

There are significant roadworks near Donington Park and so we will be reacting to live traffic conditions – we will be changing routes live and using contingencies so we can’t stress enough – follow the signage!

Please travel at a safe but reasonable speed. The volume of cars attending Download means that the success of the plan relies on each of you helping us so please – follow the signs, do not stop on the roads, park as directed and most of all travel to the festival safely. The roads around the site have temporary “no waiting” traffic orders on them which will be enforced.

When leaving, please follow the signs and use routes that avoid the busiest area which will be Junction 23A of the M1.

M1 COMING FROM THE SOUTH  The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 23A northbound

M1 COMING FROM THE NORTH The route to the festival will be signposted from Junction 28 southbound

M42 / A42 COMING FROM BIRMINGHAM DIRECTION  The route to the festival will be signed from Junction 13 northbound.

Taxi

There is a taxi rank and drop off / pick up area inside the Transport Hub. Please use this area and do not get dropped off on the road as it is not safe to walk to site along the verges. There are no pavements and no lighting. There are “no stopping” orders in the vicinity of the site and so your cab is risking enforcement action by not using the Transport Hub.

Agreed taxi fares from nearby points will be included here once available.
